Middle School/Junior High (Grades 6-8)
With the advent of middle school or junior high, our students begin the exciting journey of changing classes. Students move from classroom to classroom and teacher to teacher, not only for their specials (Art, Music, Spanish, P.E. and Computers) as in their elementary years, but also for their core subjects of Religion, Social Studies, Language Arts, Science, and Math.
Our Junior High Core Curriculum includes:
- A dynamic Religious Education and Faith Formation program
- A challenging and comprehensive Language Arts program
- A new Science program that emphasizes critical thinking and constructed response
- An innovative and interactive Social Studies program
- A well known and respected Math program that offers two courses of study at each grade level 6-8
When our students reach the 6th grade they are placed (by teacher recommendation) into two different math courses according to ability, interest level, and work study skills, thus enabling each student to progress and succeed at his/her own level. The first course of study offers students 6th grade math, 7th grade Pre Algebra, and 8th grade Algebra and the second course of study offers students 6th grade Pre Algebra, 7th grade Algebra and 8th grade Geometry. As both courses of study are advanced, all of our students have the opportunity to begin high school math at the sophomore or junior level (depending on the results of their high school placement test).
