Multicultural, Diversity & Inclusion Committee
Vision Statement
The Multicultural, Diversity and Inclusion Committee (MDI), in support of the school mission statement, will strive for cultural proficiency. Cultural proficiency is defined by the ability to think, feel and act in ways that understand and respect ethnic, socio-cultural and linguistic diversity.
The Multicultural, Diversity and Inclusion Committee will:
- TEACHERS and EDUCATION - Promote training and educational opportunities to staff and students
- CURRICULUM - Provide materials and resources to assist multiculturalism within the curriculum
- COMMUNICATION - Communicate and measure our efforts in a systematic manner
- PERSONNEL - Continue to advocate for attracting and retaining a diverse staff that promotes cultural proficiency
- COMMUNITY RELATIONS - Tap into community resources that promote cultural competency and proficiency
- LEADERSHIP - Encourage and support the St. Thomas Leadership Team in weaving culturally proficient practices in all areas of the St. Thomas Community
