Elementary (Grades 1-5)
This is an exciting time in the lives of our students. From first grade when they're seeing a whole world open up to them through reading and basic addition, through third grade as they make the transition from “learning to read” to “reading to learn,” through fifth grade when they stand on the verge of Junior High, a whole new world of educational and creative learning opportunities opens up to them.
Our elementary teachers use their teaching gifts in many and varied ways to help each student to cultivate his or her own gifts and to encourage their students to fully explore the ever-changing world around them. Always with faith as the cornerstone of all we do and teach, these years are exciting and awe-inspiring. Each day our students are bursting with eagerness and creative energy just waiting to be released. Just walk the halls or peak into any of our classrooms and you’ll see just how exciting, creative and fun learning can be!
Special Highlights of these Years Include:
- Full Day Instruction (Grade 1)
- First Communion (Grade 2)
- Participation in the Variety Show (beginning Grade 3)
- Fourth Grade Song Fest (Grade 4)
- The Celebration of the Sacrament of Reconciliation (in Adult Form) (Grade 4)
- Beginning Band (for 5th Graders)
- Hornet Athletics (St. Thomas Sports Teams begin in the 5th Grade)
