Cocurricular Activities

CHOIR AND BAND

In addition to regular music classes, students may participate in one of three St. Thomas Children’s Choirs. The choirs are for students in Kindergarten through 2nd grade; 3rd through 5th grades; and 6th through 8th grades. Choir practice is held on Tuesday nights in the church.

An instrumental music program is available for students in grades 5th through 8th. Fifth grade students receive band instruction during the school day as part of the music program. Jr. High band students meet during lunch recess twice a week.

MIDDLE SCHOOL DRAMA EXPERIENCES

Creative drama has always been a mainstay in teaching our religion and history classes. Drama provides a hands on experience that encourages students to aspire to higher levels of thinking, acting, creative props, and historical correctness. The drama draws shy students out of themselves and humbles some people into realizing how difficult good acting is and that performance demands real effort.

ARTS OPPORTUNITIES

The Performing Arts Committee at St. Thomas is a group of parent volunteers who believe in the importance of introducing our students to all types of cultural events. The Home & School Association provides the funding, so there is no cost to the students to attend the performances and field trips that are scheduled throughout the year. In addition, performers, artists and authors are brought into the school and classrooms to perform in an effort to provide an even broader spectrum of arts opportunities for our students.
