Featured Student Alumni
It is our pleasure to introduce St. Thomas Alumni who are current high school or college students who are excelling in school, sports, or are making a difference within the community.
Catholic Central High School proudly announced four National Merit Semifinalists, including Two Alumni from Saint Thomas the Apostle School
Seniors Ryan Pelak, David VanderZee, Jonah Potter, and Brian Lach have been named as Semifinalists in the 2012 National Merit Scholarship Program.
This scholarship program honors individual students who show exceptional academic ability and potential for success in rigorous college studies. Pelak, VanderZee, Potter, and Lach, along with 16,000 other academically talented high school seniors, will have an opportunity to continue in the competition for some 8,400 National Merit Scholarships, worth more than $36 million, that will be offered next spring. The nationwide pool of semifinalists, which represents less than 1% of U.S. high school seniors, includes the highest scoring entrants in each state.
Additionally, Catholic Central is proud to announce seniors Abigail Esch, Madylan Horrigan, Jordan Sykes, and Tyler Sykes were recognized as National Merit Commended Scholars. Although Commended Scholars do not continue in the competition for National Merit Scholarships, these students are candidates for special scholarships sponsored by corporations and businesses.
Ryan Pelak, David VanderZee, Madylan Horrigan, Jordan Sykes, and Tyler Sykes are all Saint Thomas graduates from the Class of 2008. We would like to congratulate them on their outstanding scholastic accomplishments and wish them continued success in their academic careers and beyond. Congratulations!
Saint Thomas Alumni Voted Catholic Central High School Homecoming King and Queen
Seniors Ryan Pelak, son of Norm and Joan Pelak, and Anna Faber, daughter of Dave and Sarah Faber, were chosen as the Catholic Central High School 2011 Homecoming King and Queen. This honor is voted on by the entire senior class. Said many seniors of their chosen king and queen, "They're just both really nice."
Our congratulations go out to these two fine representatives of Saint Thomas!
